We haven't left our 15 month old with anyone. It is probably time for some dates considering we are thinking about getting pregnant this year with #2. We are fortunate enough to have lots of family around. If they aren't available we have friends who would be willing to trade date nights when we think #1 is ready and knows them well enough.
Hey,
I don’t have kids, but I am a reliable babysitter. The main way I have been found by new parents were through work relationships (my moms co workers) and from a kindergym program where I looked after the kids for an hour and the parents were able to see how I interacted with the children. Another way is to ask your friends who they have for a babysitter, because they clearly trust that person to look after their child. 🙂
I rely always relied of family and very close friends and if they weren’t available I just didn’t go out
This is a struggle we have all faced with raising children. Some children do well in the pre-school setting and some are better in a one on one situation. My opinion is that it is up parent and the personality of the child. Go with your gut, it will never steer you wrong.
April 3–I just wanted to caution parents of toddlers that be careful not to introduce your child to too man y new caregivers at once. This situation arose in our family when, because of circumstances, our little ggson had extra caregivers over the period of a week. Then,, when his parents had weekend visitors, he became very anxious because he probably thought that he m ight be left with them and he was quite difficult to settle at night.–el03ro
Great advice! Thank you Elva!
Important information for all parents
This is something we’ve been struggling with. Especially because we surprisingly have a well behaved 10 month old who has travelled with us extensively and is super good during outings. But then there’s movie dates and that’s when we tap into friends and my brother. Thank goodness my mom’s coming to stay with us.. yay for movie dates and going out dancing!
When my children were small we always relied on family or very close friends and if they were not available we just didn’t go out.
Some people think going out on a date night when your kids are small is wrong but I think every couple need a night out just to relax and talk, its amazing when you can just relax for a couple of hours.
