When I was a child I had a few absolute favourite toys and games. I remember loving the classic Mouse Trap game and lamenting I did not have the game at home and only got the play it when I was at school in the library. I love the fact that some of my old favourites are still available today and happy that I can share them with my son.
Hasbro Toys has updated my beloved Mouse Trap by adding friends from the Hungry Hungry Hippos and Elefun games, which are bound to be familiar to the preschool set. The game is listed as for ages 4 and up and can accommodate up to 3 players. With a suggested MSRP of $19.99 (USD) the game is priced similarly to many board games of this nature.
My son (5 years old) helped me with the set up and it was reasonably easy and only took a few minutes. He loves the game just as much as I did. He also asked to play again the next day and the next. Elefun & Friends Mouse Trap will definitely become part of our regular rotation.
The only thing that I noticed was that the spaces on the board are close together and there are a lot of moving and loose parts once everything is all set up, which lends itself to accidental trap activations and falling parts that can be slightly frustrating to all the players (young and old). It would be nice if there was more space between the various moving parts, but I do think that would make the board much too large so there probably isn’t any easy solution. The game was still wonderful and fun to play and would be a huge hit with the under 6 crowd.
Did you have a favourite game when you were a child? Is it now one of your own children’s favourites?

Favourite games for me as a child were playing cards for nickles. We still play games as a family, cards and board games.
I adored Hungry Hungry Hippos growing up but I’ve never heard of Mouse Trap before. Looks so cute & fun!
