From the moment I found out I was pregnant with my first son, I started to organize things around the house, setting up his nursery almost three months before he was born and buying all of the new mom “must haves”.

Nesting was very different once I was pregnant with baby #2. I had many products and pieces of furniture that I was able to reuse and I didn’t have to purchase many of the things I did with my first. Besides I was more experienced and I knew what I really needed and what I could live without.

With my second I set up his bassinet just a week before he was born and instead of worrying about his “nursery decor” I worried more about sterilizing and cleaning my pump and setting up a comfortable nursing area.

We purchased our first son’s crib, rocking chair and ottoman from Sears and we are now using the same three pieces for #2.  I haven’t set up his crib yet but the rocking chair and ottoman are being used daily. We also purchased a Fisher-Price swing at Sears for our first that was stored in the garage and that’s used with our second baby now (picture above).

I love being able to reuse baby furniture as much as possible, no extra waste or extra money spent.

Baby clothes are also great to pass from one child to the next, especially having two little boys! Sears offers a wonderful program named Kidvantage that features lifetime wear out warranty on children’s apparel. It means that as long as a child in the family continues to wear the same size Sears will replace the item if it wears out. I love this!

This year, Sears is also celebrating their Newborn Nesting event again! From April 18th – May 1st, customers can earn a cash card, when they spend the following amount in the Baby’s Room:

  • Spend $200-$299.99 on nursery furniture, baby gear, and infant fashions and get a $25 cash card
  • Spend $300-$399.99 on nursery furniture, baby gear, and infant fashions and get a $50 cash card
  • Spend $400 or more on nursery furniture, baby gear and infant fashions and get a $100 cash cardThe offer is valid in-stores and on sears.ca – which is convenient for those in communities that haven’t quite broken into spring yet : ). Cash cards are redeemable May 2 – 21st.
