Do you have pets in your home? Do you find that no matter how many times you dust, vacuum or wash, your home still smells like dog? I don’t know about you but no matter how hard I clean I always find that our place smells like our pets. I am not one for purchasing drugstore air fresheners. I find they look tacky and they don’t really work at masking any unwanted odors. So I was very excited when I was asked to try the Lampe Berger. Not only do they have a wide selection of Lamps but each lamp is uniquely designed, taking over 18 months to create. They offer 15 new lamps each year, making sure they are current with today’s decor trends so they look great in your home!
The process it’s self is fairly simple and takes no time to set up. Each lamp comes with a funnel, stopper and catalytic burner and the fragrances are sold separately. You can also purchase starter kits that include a Lamp, accessories, a neutral fragrance and a selected scent. This is a great way to go if you just want to try it out and aren’t too picky on your Lamp or scent, as the starter kit selections are slightly limited. I went with the London White Lamp as it goes great with my bedroom decor. To get started you take your fragrance and fill your lamp approximately 2/3’s full. I would say this is the only downside of the lamp I chose. Since it is opaque, you can’t really tell how full the lamp is and have to use your best guesstimate. When filling your lamp you can choose to use a fragrance, the neutral or blend the two together. I used Vanilla Gourmet and diluted the scent a bit with the neutral. The Neutral will remove unwanted odors without fragrancing which is a great option if you have a sensitivity to scents. It also cleans the burner, which is great if you like to switch your fragrances up every once and awhile.
Once you have filled your lamp with your fragrance, take your wick and slide it into the lamp. You then need to let your wick sit and soak up the fragrance for approximately 20 minutes before you light it. After it has sat for 20 minutes you can go ahead and light your lamp. Just make sure you keep it out of reach of any children, pets and of course flammable materials.
Let your flame burn for about 2 minutes before blowing it out and placing the top back on. When placing the top on be careful not to touch the Catalytic burner as it will be quite hot. You should now have a lovely fragrance wafting through the air, purifying the room as it goes. After lighting mine the other day there was no trace of dog left anywhere in the room, aside from her bed. Even hours after I had lit the lamp the room still smelt nice and refreshing.
