Teething is a drag. It’s a drag for the poor little baby who is uncomfortable and often in pain and it’s also a drag for the mommies and daddies who are desperate to relieve the discomfort and pain. I seem to have gotten lucky with D who didn’t get his first tooth until he was 11 months. Yes, 11 months! Little E, on the other hand, has been stuffing her hand in her mouth since she was just 3 months. Because she is still so young, she is still mastering the art of holding things. The traditional teething toys I have are difficult for her to hold, let alone get into her mouth and keep there. This of course leads to them falling on the floor constantly.
The Munch Mitt was designed for just this reason. Mompreneur Melissa Hyslop also had a baby who started teething young and she knew there had to be a better way. The Munch Mitt is BPA and phthalate-free, made of food grade silicone and from a soft, breathable, water resistant fabric. It has been tested by Intertek to ensure it meets or exceeds all federal safety requirements, including Consumer Product Safety Commission standards, American Society for Testing and Materials regulations, and the most current Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act in both the US and Canada. The mitt can be worn on either hand and comes in green or fuchsia.
Ellie kept the mitt on her hand with the help of the Velcro strap and went to town on the silicone end. She also seemed to like that the mitt part made a crinkly sound that most parents are all too familiar with. I think this mitt will actually come in handy for quite some time and keep her poor hand from becoming raw. It fell off a few times, but she is on the young side of the recommended 3-12 month suggested age range. My friend Deanna has a slightly older baby and she said that he loves it for many of the same reasons and that it clearly feels great on his sore gums. She also said her little guy finds it easier to maneuver than a traditional teething toy that doesn’t always move the way he wants it to.
The MSRP of the Munch Mitt is $18.99 USD ($21.95 CDN) which is on par for many teething toys such as the ever popular Sophie the Giraffe, which is just a squeaky dog toy for babies in my so humble opinion. This would make a great gift or something to add to a baby basket or diaper cake.

I think the Munch Mitt for Teething Babies is the greatest find for these little ones since sliced bread. Since it has velcro, it stays on the little hand and the baby can gnaw, chew and slurp to her/his heart’s content and peace for her parents.
Other teething toys were constantly being dropped, and this is what I observed and so were probably not as hygenic as Mom would like. Kudos to the Mom who invented the Munch Mitt, Melissa Hyslop.
This looks like a genius idea! I don’t have any little ones anymore to try it out on but I do have a baby shower coming up! Perfect timing!

I have seen this product advertised a lot lately! I totally need to get one for my daughter, what an awesome product considering they are always putting their hands in their mouth especially when teething and it stays on their hand as opposed to teethers where they just constantly drop them

what a fantastic product! I agree the problem with most teething toys is that the child can’t manage to get it in it’s mouth or they drop it & then it has to be washed before it can be used again. This is ideal every baby I’ve ever known automatically manages to find it’s mouth with its hands – what a great solution 🙂

This is a great idea! I could have used these when my youngest was small. She chewed on everything. I wonder if they have considered a special needs product that is similar but for older kids? A lot of kids are sensory seekers and they chew their shirts and wreck them. Something like this with a bit of a different look would be perfect.

We have one of these mitts as well and my little one loves the sound that it makes while she is playing with it. I love that it says on her hand and she can’t just toss it away!

This is a wonderful find for Moms of Teething Babies. They can now ‘munch’ away on a safe surface. Their little hands do not get bitten or torn. This is a win-win situation. Kudos to the person who invented it.
