These days it seems as though almost everybody has a dietary restriction. Some may be by choice, like me, but many others seem to be related to various stomach or digestive ailments. In my immediate family alone there is Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis and Irritable Bowel Syndrome just to name a few. On top of this, food allergies and sensitivities seem more common than ever before and people are left wondering what they heck they are suppose to eat! A new cookbook has come out that addresses these issues beautifully. This cookbook and action plan is a collaboration between Sondi Bruner, a Vancouver based Holistic Nutritionist and Dorothy Calimeris, an Oakland based chef.
The book includes recipes that are:
• gluten-free
• dairy-free
• soy-free
• corn-free
• peanut-free
• refined sugar-free
• with nightshade-free and egg-free options
It also includes four different meal plans that focus on options for vegan, Paleo, Mediterranean or timesaving. This helps take the guess work out of what exactly to make or eat on any given day. I also love that there are so many beautiful photos of the recipes. When I’m cooking I really do like to have a visual of what the finished product should look like.
The recipes are not overly complicated and there really are options for just about every style or preference. I love getting a new cookbook so that I get out of my same old, same old habit of cooking all of my go-to recipes on a rotating basis. The first recipe that caught my eye was the Buddha bowl since I knew I could get the Hubby to eat it as well. He did add shrimp to his, but I ate mine as is and we both really liked it a lot. We are huge spice people and thought that next time we might kick it up a notch and maybe add in some fresh grated ginger or something else with some zing. I am going to make the avocado mouse next for sure. I know that will be a huge hit with the whole family.
Given that the traditional North American diet is widely accepted as detrimental to our health I am always looking to improve my eating habits. I am also the first to admit that I need help in the cooking department as I naturally gravitate to baking and would rather leave the cooking to somebody else. I’m sure I am not alone on this front and most people could greatly benefit from an anti-inflammatory diet, even if they just followed it for some of the time.
The Anti-Inflammatory Diet and Action Plans is now available on Amazon and retails for approximately $13.00 (USD) or less for the digital version. It can also be found at major book retailers across North America.
I was gifted a copy of the book for review consideration, this is however not a paid post and all opinions and views on this post are 100% my own.

Such diverse recipes in one book is amazing. I was also astonished that it was so cheap, it should sell like hotcakes. 🙂

Looks like my kind of book. We’ve been trying to change our diet and this would help give us some food ideas
My sisters children have many dietary restrictions…will tell her about this !
You are so correct in your statement about “almost everybody has a dietary restriction” its so hard doing snacks/lunches for school, get togethers and parties
My family members include a daughter with Irritable Bowel, a grandson and a great-granddaughter with Celiac; and two granddaughters who are vegetarians.
I am very interested in an anti-inflammatory diet and, if I can find this cookbook, I will buy it. Thank you for this information.
I agree with Jen that almost every family has one or more members with dietary restrictions. This is true of our family. I hope to buy this book or get it at the local library. Thank you for telling us about it.
