Six years ago, I started feeding my first child baby food. Back then the guidelines suggested baby cereal and purees. I had those down pat. Feeding my baby with a spoon also appealed to my mild OCD and allowed me to keep the mess to a minimum. Fast forward to today and of course the guidelines have totally changed. All the new research indicates that babies do better with food (in the short and long run) if they are able to feed themselves and to skip baby cereal and purees altogether. So naturally I jumped on this “new” feeding regime otherwise known as Baby Led Weaning since I wanted the baby to be a “good” eater as she got older.
But what is a mess-averse mom to do? Find awesome bibs of course! Not all bibs are created equal and there is definitely a good bib, a great bib and an amazing bib. I defer to the 3 C’s of bib evaluation: coverage (how much of the baby is actually covered), cleanliness (how easy is the bib to wash) and cute factor (oh yes, the bib still needs to be stylish and cute).
Mixed Pears has hit a home run and covered all the bases with their Suitables Role Play Bibs. The bib is long and has long sleeves: check. The bib is water and stain-repellent as well as machine washable and has a flip-forward pocket to catch crumbs and drips: check. The bibs come in a variety of designs, from chef (the one we had) to astronaut to lion: check. Kids love to dress up. It seems to be a universal childhood pastime. These bibs encourage imaginative play while serving a useful and practical function. They are also BPA, PVC, lead, phthalate and formaldehyde-free, which is a huge bonus to me and something I look for in all baby and children’s products.
Suitables are available in one size, 1T-3T and retail for $19.95 USD. For anybody in the market for a fun and practical bib at a very reasonable price point, this is the one for you.
Disclosure: I was gifted product for review consideration, this is however not a paid post and all opinions and views on this post are 100% my own.

These bibs are absolutely adorable and I love the fact that they have long sleeves, the pockets also help too 🙂
These are great! I would definitely pick these up as a gift for some of my little nephews and nieces; definitely would inspire some creative play.
These are so cute. I love the chef’s one!
How adorable! Love the little chef!
The Chef & the Firefighter are really cute. I went to mixedpears.com & they come in Astronaut & Doctor. Also non career bibs: Panda, Clowfish, Macaw Parrot & Lion. tHought they would have a Policeman. I would call them smocks not bibs.
“bib Definition a piece of cloth, plastic, or paper that covers the chest and is often tied under the chin of a child to protect the clothing while the child is eating.
any similar cloth or part of a garment.
the front part of an apron, overalls, or similar protective garment above the waist.
Fencing. a piece of canvas attached to the base of the mask, for protecting the throat.”
Oops. Made a mistake in my last post. It should have said “Thought they would have a Police Officer.”
what a clever idea! this would be great for my little one because she hates wearing a bib! My favorite is the Panda one
Those are so cute and I will have to check them out for my children!
