We were recently sent the 2016 Caboose Ultralight Graphite Tandem Stroller from Joovy to test drive with our boys. The new Caboose Ultralight Graphite stand-on tandem stroller is a double stroller made with convenience in mind. This compact and super light stroller has been designed for strolling with two kids, with the older child getting a chance to sit, stand or walk along. Perfect for older, independent children.
We love the stroller’s rear canopy extension, the sleek graphite-colored aluminum frame and how easy it is to navigate tight spaces with two children.
We decided to get the Caboose Ultralight Graphite Tandem mainly for our upcoming Disneyland trip. We ended up having to rent a second stroller during a Disney trip last year because our eldest was tired from walking and needed some rest during the long days. A tandem stroller like the Caboose Ultralight Graphite Tandem is the perfect solutions for us. He can walk along with us and easily rest by sitting or standing when needed, while his little brother rides in the front.
The Caboose Ultralight Graphite has a capacity of 90 lbs. or 45 lbs per seat.
Assembly
Assembling the Caboose Ultralight Graphite Tandem Stroller was pretty simple and there were no extra tools required. It took me about 5 minutes to put together as it only needed the wheels, canopy and front tray to be installed. The large instruction booklet that came in the box was pretty clear and it had illustrations to help for each step. I even had our two year old helping me out.
Folding/Unfolding and Maneuverability
This stroller is pretty light for a tandem stroller, the Caboose Ultralight Graphite is 21.8 lbs and 21% lighter than the Caboose Graphite. The Ultralight version also includes a Parent Organizer, larger canopy and sealed ball bearing wheels. It is very easy to fold and unfold and this can be done in one action, it is also easy to move around once it has been folded.
In general I found this stroller was pretty easy to maneuver and push around. Going up curbs and other obstacles was o.k. Going up hill can be a work out for sure but that’s due to the fact that I am pushing two boys with a combined weight of over 60lbs! Good leg and arm exercise for sure. Changing from lock back to full swivel on the front tires was easy to do with a simple push in the wheel area as well.
Folding and unfolding is super easy and takes seconds. The stroller also fits well in the trunk of our SUV (RAV4). Not too heavy to lift in and out of the trunk of my car on my own.
Seating
The front seat of the stroller can recline for naps (3 positions) and it has a 5-point harness, you can also remove the tray and install the universal car seat adapter (included) to use with an infant seat.
On the back, the toddler can sit on the reach bench seat that has a 3-point harness or stand on the stand-on platform that is built-it. If your older child is less than 2.5 years old, you can also add a full-size, reclining, front-facing rear seat. Sold separately.
I love that the stroller has a huge canopy and a canopy extension that covers the rear rider when seated as well.
Storage
I was surprised to see all of the ample and easy to access storage space at the bottom of the stroller. It is great for carrying your diaper bag, shopping bags, your little one’s toys and more. Note that to access it at the back you must slide the rear bench seat so your toddler in the back seat needs to stand up.
Final Thoughts
Overall we are enjoying testing this stroller. I love that I can easily convince our 5-year-old to stand or sit in the back of the Caboose Ultralight Graphite Tandem Stroller and he doesn’t feel like a “baby”. I like having an option for him whenever we go out and he is tired and needs to take break from walking.
The front seat can hold a child from 3 months up and it reclines to 3-positions, perfect for naps on the go. The large canopy provides ample coverage from the sun and light rain and the new rear canopy extension covers the rear rider when they are seated. Love that extra feature for when it is raining, and that is great for cities like Vancouver.
This stroller is a great stroller for city life and I love how versatile it is, allowing parents to use it with older children while the younger child is seating in the front. I recommend it to parents looking for a tandem stroller that is light, easy to maneuver and that doesn’t take much more space than a single stroller.

What a cool stroller. Love it! Great review.
This stroller is absolutely brilliant! I could really use this in my life. My oldest daughter is autistic and after we go for a family walk she is always tired to walk it home and has to be carried. she hates being strapped in but to be able to sit on the back, she would love that and have no problem doing it
now that’s one fantastic tandem stroller! Love how they’ve included a little canopy for the back seat!
LOVE love love it! What a practical stroller!
That is a fantastic stroller! It’s good to know that is light, easy to maneuver and versatile. Thanks for the great review!
Very practical. I like how it could keep a toddler comfortable and able to sit when their legs get tired. Plus you have control over both and all in one spot!
And a very nice stroller this is too, I love the fact that the older child can choose whether to sit or stand, they get bored so easily this will no doubt help avoid that happening.
This is an awesome stroller and one that would be perfect for my daughter, she has two children and having the one stroller so the oldest can stand on the back is so cool!!
I find stroller shopping to be very overwhelming, which is why we still don’t have one even tough our baby is 9 months old! Our next youngest is 4 so a sit and stand stroller is definitely something we’ve considered. I like that this one is light and easy to push/steer.
I love the look and setup of this stroller. The storage is a huge bonus.
