This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Cricut. All opinions are 100% mine.
I have been a Cricut user for many years. I started my Cricut journey with a Cricut Explorer machine and I have been a fan and Cricut lover ever since. I love the versatility of the Cricut machines and how useful they are to get things done around the house, to create unique projects, and to channel your creative DIY enthusiast self.
I recently added the Cricut Joy to my collection and I am absolutely obsessed. I have worked on so many cool projects already using the Joy and I am so excited to continue creating. Below I am sharing some of the reasons why I love it so much, including a simple project showing you just how easy it is to use.
Size and Weight
Measuring at just 8”x 4”x 4″, and with a total weight of 3.85 lbs, the Cricut Joy is small but mighty. The most compact cutting machine in their lineup, it is less than half the size of Cricut Explore and Cricut Maker; making it perfect for everyday crafting. You can easily keep it on your desk without the need for a dedicated crafting area. I keep mine on my desk in my office, ready to use whenever I want to work on a project.
Easy to Use
I love that I don’t even need to use my computer when working on a project with my Cricut Joy. I can do everything through the free Cricut Design app, in seconds, from the convenience of my smartphone. It takes a few projects to get familiarized with the basic settings, and there are so many YouTube tutorials and blogs explaining things step by step, in case you need help when using new materials or for more complex projects. The app is very user friendly and easy to use, and you can get started with your first project right after you open the box.
There are many free projects ready to go in the app, and all you need is the materials.
Versatility
Using your Cricut Joy, you can make such a wide variety of projects. I myself have made personalized artwork decor for my bathroom wall, custom tote bags, a cute custom water bottle, personalized shirts for the boys, labels for my pantry, birthday party decor, infusible ink makeup bags, greeting cards, and more. I love that I can make so many different projects using one machine.
Personalization
Using the Cricut Joy, I can personalize all my projects to fit my specific needs. I can use my own unique text, graphics, and materials. I can start a project from scratch completely or edit one that is ready to go from the app, by changing the text, size, or materials. I love having that freedom.
Time and Money Saving
I have saved so much money on greeting cards over the years. Birthday cards, Thank You Cards, Father’s Day cards, Mother’s Day cards, you name it. I have made them all myself, at home. With the Cricut Joy, you can make beautiful, colourful, complex, professional-looking greeting cards in minutes! I have had so many compliments on my greeting cards from friends and family. No need to run to the grocery store to get a last-minute card, and try to find one that matches the sentiment. I can now pick the card I want, personalize it, and make it in minutes.
I will share a step by step tutorial, showing you just how easy it is to make a greeting card using the Cricut Joy below:
How to Make a Greeting Card with the Cricut Joy in Minutes
Tools
- Cricut Joy
- Cricut Joy Insert Cards
- Cricut Joy Card Mat
- Cricut Scraper tool
- Glue
Instructions
- Open the Cricut Design Space app on your smartphone and search for a card. In this case, I searched for a birthday card project.
- Insert the card in the Joy card mat as pictured.
- Select card material in the app.
- Load the mat and press GO. The Cricut Joy will cut the card design.
- Unload the mat and carefully unstick the card from the mat with the scraper tool.
- Glue the piece of cardboard backing to the back of the card (colour of choice).
- Write a message and mail the card.
That was so easy! It took me only a few minutes to make the card, and I can now mail a beautiful, professional-looking card that was made by me. People love personalized, unique cards, and the fact that you took the time to make it for them. It is a win, win!
