We were sent an Alcatel 1B to test and my eldest has been giving it a try. I liked that it was super easy to set up parental controls as I was setting it up. The first thing we noticed when handling the phone was the fact that it is super lean, light and compact. Perfect for small hands and pockets. The display is a spacious 5.5” 18:9 HD+ though so you still get a high-quality screen.
The Alcatel 1B has a dedicated Google Assistant button, allowing you to check your messages and social updates with the touch of a button. It also has a 3000 mAh battery, that is removable, great if you ever need to replace it.
The phone features a powerful quad-core processor and it runs the latest Android™ 10 (Go edition). You can download all your favourite apps using the Google Play Store.
You can also take great photos with the Alcatel 1B as well, it has a 5MP rear camera 5MP rear camera, HD video, and selfie camera with face beauty effect. Pretty decent photo and video quality for a phone of its price point.
The battery talk time is around 26 hours and standby time is supposed to be around 18 days, beating my own phone’s battery life. It doesn’t have to be charged constantly and that’s a plus.
The phone has an accelerometer, GPS, proximity sensors, and all the basic things you need preloaded. Clock, camera, radio, calendar, and all the Google apps, like Gmail, Google Assistant, Maps, etc.
My son doesn’t use this phone as an everyday device, since he is too young for it, so it is great having a more inexpensive option when looking for a phone that will be used only occasionally, when out of the house when he is without us. He can take it with him when going to playdates at friends houses, staying at a camp or class, etc. Also, I don’t feel stressed out if we end up having to fix the screen at some point.
