We were deeply inspired to begin juicing after watching the documentary “Fat Sick and Nearly Dead” by Australian Joe Cross. The film chronicles Joe’s personal mission to regain his health after conventional medicine failed to help him fight a debilitating autoimmune disease. He was 100 lbs overweight and taking tons of steroids for his disease until he decided to get off his pills and change his diet and lifestyle completely.
The documentary is extraordinary and I definitively recommend you watching it if you are looking for real inspiration to reboot your life and start eating and drinking more fruits and veggies.
For the last few months we have been enjoying the health benefits of drinking delicious green juices daily. What I love the most is that my little one actually enjoys the juices as well. He is a picky eater and rarely eats his veggies but he has no problem with the juices. He is now drinking half a cup of nutrition filled green juice almost everyday!
Here he is enjoying a yummy Apple, Carrot & Beet juice. Love the mustache!
Check out two of our favorite recipes that are refreshing, super tasty and yes, very healthy (taken from the official Reboot your Life website, where you can actually watch the entire documentary for FREE and get more recipes). Enjoy!

I am a picky eater myself so I would love to try the juice… I’m a bit skeptical!
With my son being a picky eater I find that he prefers and actually really enjoys the juices. Very refreshing in the summer too!
What kind of juicer do you use? My concern about juicing is the cost. Do you have any idea on how much it costs to make a cup of juice? Organic fruits and veggies are already very expensive here in Alberta so I am not sure this is something we could afford.
After a lot of research we ended up purchasing the Omega 8006 and we love it so far. Easy to clean, super quiet and easy to use.
We already buy only organic vegetables/fruits for our meals so it wasn’t a big switch to start juicing with organic produce but I agree about the price. Unfortunately organic produce can be very expensive in Canada. We get ours from a place called Choices Markets and I find it is not too extreme there, still more expensive than buying non-organic of course.
I would say it depends on how much juice you want and for how many people. Having a juicer that really gets the most out of the veggies/fruits is a must for sure. With the Omega we use the recipes above (same number of ingredients) and we get two small cups for ourselves and half a cup for our son a day. Not too bad when you think of the health benefits.
Let me know if you have any more questions~!
July 30-Thank you for your review of this book. I had given up on drinking juices because of the sugar they usually contain. However you review and your recipes have interested me in drinking healthier juices again. Thanks for the link as i would like to read more about this lifestye.–el03ro

Thanks for sharing these recipes! We like juicing, but tend to get into ruts making the same ones over again. = ) It’s always good to run across some fresh ideas to get us inspired to experiment.
I heard it was better to eat your veggies as opposed to drinking them, because your missing out on the much needed fiber you get from the actual veggie. Is this true?
Hi Angela, some studies show that unlocking the nutrients of raw foods is one of the vital benefits of juicing. Fiber is quite literally locked into many vegetables and fruits and the potential benefit of the fiber is lost as the digestive system does not unlock it. Juicing releases the fiber’s nutrition so that benefit may be realized.
As anything, with juicing it doesn’t mean that you stop eating fruits and vegetables. You are still eating them but you can add juicing to your healthy diet.
I’ll have to give these juices a try for my grandson. Then I’ll know exactly what nutritients he’s getting.
These sound great! Will have to try them with my lil guy! 🙂
I am going to try apple carrot beet juice.
Thank you for the recipes! I am a picky eater like your son and if HE likes them, I’m pretty sure that I will too. Thanks again!
Hello, OSM. Thank you for the link to the Reboot site. This is something I have been thinking about trying. If your young guy will drink juice with veggies (but not eat them) & still likes the juice; there may be hope for me, yet. I cannot afford a juicer right now but will keep juicing in my mind as a very real option in terms of my health. Thank you for this post, One Smiley Monkey.
I think my son would love the green lemonade! It takes all I have to get him to eat his veggies, so this would be an awesome opportunity! Thañks for posting!
Thanks, I just got a juicer so I may have to check this out. Love the picture of your little guy!
I find the fact that your son will drink these juices very interesting. I have a greatgrandson who is also picky eater. I plan to look into this farther and sample these juices before I try introducing them to him. Thank you for these recipes and this tip.

I wish I could get my grandson to drink this…

I just adore that photo of your son, wonderful. I’m not into smoothies I’m afraid, unless it’s just fruit 🙂
I have to say first that I love your sons bright red mustache, he’s adorable. I also like your recipes because they sound delicious.
