We had the pleasure to meet Bethany Schiedel from Images by Bethany last December when we visited her studio to shoot a complimentary photo session for our family. Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver her studio is warm and welcoming and it has large windows that provide gorgeous natural light.
We wanted an outdoor photoshoot but the weather wasn’t cooperating (raining in Vancouver, really?!) so we headed to her studio first to shoot the first part of our session, hoping for the rain to stop. At the end we managed to finish the session outdoors.
We haven’t had a professional photos session done for our family before so I was a bit nervous about it as I didn’t know what to expect. 2-year-olds are not specially known for their patience! During our session I was pleased to see that our son was on his best behavior. Bethany was wonderful with him and she even had some toys available for him to play with; making the session more relaxed and comfortable for him and for my husband and myself.
A few weeks after our family photo session, we returned to Bethany’s downtown studio to view the photos. Bethany had some delicious gourmet bagels waiting for us with hot tea and a selection of samples with the products she offers. Our images were displayed on a big screen for us to see and she played a slideshow along with a lovely song.
We then decided to pick our favorite photos and after some deliberation decided to get Christmas presents for family as well. Family photos are always wonderful presents for the holiday season. We ended up spending more than we expected but we were happy with the products we purchased.

We loved working with Bethany and we are so excited to have our first set of professional family photos. She was very easy to work with and we are hoping to work with her again in the future.

I love photos that capture the spirit of the family – not just the “clothes” and forced smiles. I’d love a family photo with my dad, siblings, brother-in-law, nieces and nephew-in-law. Oh, and the family dog. My mom passed away a few years ago, and we haven’t had a “new family” photo since then and it would be nice to have one. Not that we are forgetting mom (far from it), but to show dad he still has a loving family around him.
