bamboo utensils

If clothes make the man, then this hemp blend apron from Bambu makes me Alice Waters.  Well, almost.  My cooking skills may not be pro, but at least my new apron and utensils makes me look like I know what I’m doing.  And more importantly, by switching to these organic bamboo utensils, I can feel confident that I’m not stirring in any extra toxins that other brands contain.

You may not be aware but many wooden cooking utensils contain glues with toxins that can leach into foods during cooking. According to the company’s website, these organic bamboo utensils are the healthiest option out there.  What makes them better than most is that they are not only non-toxic but are also the only ones carrying the USDA’s Certified Organic seal.  The products are natural and without harmful additives. They’re also tested by a third party for food appropriateness.

The Maker’s Apron and Bamboo set  I received included an apron and five bamboo utensils.  The full-size apron is made of hemp and organic cotton and designed with an adjustable neck strap.  The generously sized pockets are perfect for holding tools and accessories. The apron comes with a spoon, slotted spoon, spatula, tasting spoon and conversion ruler.

I’ve always thought that hemp fabric was stiff and itchy like cheap burlap.  Wrong!  This apron is super soft and classy while also being incredibly durable.  And what makes the ruler rad is that It not only has the usual measurements printed on the front side, it also has handy conversion charts on the back for people like me who still don’t know how many cups are in a quart.

This set makes a fantastic gift for pretty much anyone, from kitchen noobs to experienced foodies.  The apron is gender neutral, the utensils are practical, and the set arrives cleverly folded and buttoned up like a crisp dress shirt.
