To commemorate the 10th anniversary of a family classic, Disney released a special movie collection featuring The Princess Diaries and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, for the first time ever on Blu-ray!
I watched the Princess Diaries many many years ago and I remember totally loving the movie so I was looking forward to watching the sequel. After receiving the DVD Combo Pack I had a girls movie night with some friends and after my son was in bed we watched The Princess Diaries 2.
If you watched and liked The Princess Diaries you will like The Princess Diaries 2. I personally love that the movie shows great examples of how to positively approach those who are less fortunate.
The sequel is definitively lighthearted and very fun. My favorite character other than Mia is her Grandmother Clarisse, what a beautiful relationship between them. I also just love Julie Andrews singing and mattress surfing during the sleep over scene.
I really enjoyed watching the bloopers and deleted scenes in the Bonus Features. The “find your inner princess” personality quiz was also fun to take. Definitively a good set of modern-day fairy tales that are engaging and family friendly.

The Princess Diaries Film Synopsis: Mia Thermopolis is the average teenager – sweet, a little geeky and pretty much invisible to everyone with the exception of her mother, best friend Lilly and Lilly’s older brother Michael. Making it through high school without throwing up is a challenge in itself for Mia, so it doesn’t come as welcome news when her estranged grandmother shows up out of the blue and calmly informs her that she is in fact the heir to the throne of a European country called Genovia. Suddenly Mia’s life is thrown into complete overload. She’s being taught about scarves, waves and pears in order to become a perfect princess, she gets a makeover and a tough looking yet sweet bodyguard/limo driver called Joe. Things get out of hand when the media gets a hold of the story and suddenly Mia is thrust into the spotlight in both the newspapers and in school. On top of all that Mia has a choice to make. She must decide by Genovia’s Independence Day Ball whether she longs to relinquish her claim on the throne or to become the princess and heir to the throne and father and grandmother want her to be.

I have seen the first one several times. Its the kind of movie I can watch over and over again without getting bored cause Its just so darn cute. I would love to see the second one to see what direction they went, and to see if its as cute as the first one.

I can’t believe that 10-years have already passed. I have seen both movies and I have happy memories of them. They were fun movies that entertained. I adore Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews. It was so nice to see Julie Andrews in a feature film since The Sound Of Music will always be one of my faves!
For me, the movie was like living out that dream all little girls have where we become a princess! While I am not that little girl anymore, and I realize that being royalty is more of a headache than anything, it is still nice to watch the movies and re-live that childhood dream. In addition, watching Julie Andrews in this role always makes me think of my grandmother who passed away many years ago. I miss her terribly, but seeing Julie portray a grandmother only helps to remember the good times I shared with my grandmother.

I watched the Princess Diaries when my daughter was younger and she is now 19 going on 20 and I would love to win both movies on Blu-ray to watch the Princess Diaries 2 to see what happens and to have a newer copy for future family members. Also to watch it again and again as it was a cute movie.
