Delicious French Apple Cake Recipe
This French apple cake is a heavenly dessert bursting with sweet, fragrant apple flavour. With its tender crumb and buttery, melt-in-your-mouth texture, every bite is a delightful experience that's sure to leave you craving more.
Ingredients
- -FOR CAKE MIXTURE
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ⅔ cup white sugar
- 3 tsp Baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 whole eggs
- ⅓ cup melted butter
- ½ cup full-fat milk
- 4 small apples: peel, core and slice into thin slices
- -FOR ICING
- 1 whole egg
- 4 tbsp melted butter
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 lemon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 340°F
- Add flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Mix well with a whisk.
- Add two eggs, butter and milk to the dry mix until everything is mixed well and there are no lumps.
- Mix in 3/4 of the apple slices until they are covered with the mixture.
- Grease a nonstick round cake pan mould.
- Pour the mixture into the greased cake pan mould, then place the remaining apples on top of the cake mixture.
- Put in the oven and bake for 45-50 minutes (check that cake is fully cooked in the middle by testing with a wooden toothpick/it may be longer depending on your oven).
- Now for the glace, mix the butter, egg, and sugar in a mixing bowl. Add zest of one lemon.
- Remove the cake from the oven, pour the icing all over it, ensure all sides are covered, and place it back in the oven for an extra 15 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool down for 10-15 minutes.
- Place in a serving plate, cut, and enjoy!
