We love baking with the boys on the weekends. Today we made one of our favourite cookie recipes: The Best Oatmeal Raisin Cookies. We have been making these for years, and they are super easy to make and so delicious. Soft and chewy and full of yummy goodness.
I’ve wanted to share the recipe here for a while, and I am finally doing it today.
Are you a fan of Oatmeal Raisin Cookies too? For this recipe, we avoid using cinnamon and nutmeg. I know some recipes use those, but I love the oatmeal taste, and I feel adding those other strong flavours changes the final results.
Something else we do, and this is an important step, is to soak the raisins for a bit before they go into the cookie mix. They don’t have to soak for hours in advance, but I find that soaking them makes them softer, and they taste better in the cookies.
For the walnuts, I recommend crushing them into tiny pieces, or you can crush them into dust if you want to hide them from picky eaters.
And here it is. The full recipe below.

This recipe is super easy to make, and the kids love helping out. This is a great one to make as a family.
Do you enjoy baking as a family as well?
Don’t forget to soak the raisins in cold water for 10-15 minutes before you add them to the mix, drain them well:
Here we are mixing all the ingredients:
Everything mixed, and the dough is ready to be scooped out:
Make sure to leave space in between the cookies when laying the dough onto the baking sheet:
This is what they look like right out of the oven:
Cooling down. So good! The kids can’t even wait, and they end up eating them right as they come out of the oven, still warm!
If you end up baking these, please share your thoughts with us below in the comments.
We would love to hear what you think!
ENJOY xo

Trying this recipe soooon!
I bought a huge bag of raisins and oatmeal so I can add these to my cookie trays this year. My dad always had one with his coffee when I was little and i know he will appreciate the addition.
I use a very similar recipe for chocolate chip cookies. The oatmeal, in my opinion, makes them better than all other chocolate chip cookies. I substitute 1/2 cup of butter with 1/2 cup of applesauce and they are really good too!
I think oatmeal cookies are very subjective. It really depends on what texture you’re looking for. These look amazing.

I’m looking for a good oatmeal raison recipe. They’re my daughters favourite cookie. I’ve printed this recipe – hope to try it soon.
I made some oatmeal cookies a month ago but my recipe didn’t call for raisins but these cookies look much better.
I made these yesterday, without the raisins because we had run out of them. I allowed everyone to have one, then put a big NO! note on the container so that there will be some left for the Christmas get-together I’m taking them to, tonight.
These cookies look delicious
