I love almost everything about the fall, the brisk but not freezing winds, the beautiful leaves on the ground, comfy clothes, comfort food, Halloween…Cold and flu season tho, that’s one of my least favourite things about the fall!
When little ones are not feeling well and they stay at home from school to recover there is nothing like curling up on the couch with some blankets and watching a good movie to take their mind off the sniffles. When I am sick that’s all I want to do too!
Thankfully with Netflix we can stream and play our favourite movies at any time of the day. I remember growing up I didn’t have many options when I was sick and stayed home from school, daytime TV was pretty bad.
Netflix has a lot of family friendly comedies that are always great when trying to cheer a sick little one, after all laughter IS the best medicine, see some great suggestions below.
I love that I can totally watch all of these movies WITH my children and we can all enjoy them! Despicable Me and The Cat in The Hat are my son’s personal favourites and I just love Shrek, who doesn’t?!
2. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
3. Despicable Me
4. Dr. Suess’ The Cat in the Hat
5. Kung Fu Panda 2
6. Mr. Popper’s Penguins
What are your favourite family friendly movies that you find comforting and/or uplifting?

Love the fall too! Great selection of movies, Netflix lovers here.
Love Netflix, love the Fall and love Laughing!
Gotta love Netflix!! We recently discovered that they have Blues Clues. That was my sons favorite, waaaay back. I was beyond happy to have come across it again. Definitely going to be watching with my girl this weekend. It’s not a movie, but most impressed that Netflix carries it 🙂
great photos and a beautiful big cheesy grin 🙂 We don’t have Netflix though my son is considering it (for about 3 mths already!), a nice tonic when kids aren’t feeling well enough to play.
There is nothing better then hunkering down on the sofa and watching a little tv when you are sick, works for me
I never got to see Mr. Popper’s Penguins! It looks so cute!
Hmm.. we aren’t much of a movie family, but I always love playing old Spongebob episodes!
I agree that laughter is the best medicine. When my little guy is sick, we cuddle on the couch together and watch shows together. It’s the only time he really gets some screen time.
We love fall too – for the same reasons! We also just got Netflix but we haven’t started exploring the kids’ movie selection (I’m currently watching Criminal Minds on Netflix while the kids are at their grandmas!) but will do so soon!
Laughter really is the best medicine 🙂 Good movie choices! We usually watch Disney or Pixar movies, there’s so much awesome choices there to comfort us
