I am going to tell you my hands down favourite thing about Native Shoes for kids. You might think I am going to say it is the uber-cooling styling, or the fact that they are really comfortable and both would be great guesses but my absolute fave feature is their inability to get stinky! Last summer my oldest son wore his Native Shoes everywhere while my youngest had a pair of sandals from a children’s clothing store. Those sandals I think maybe got wet (not an unreasonable thing to happen to kids shoes) and they became utterly and inexcusably pungent. Every time they were worn my sweet little preschooler’s tootsies smelled like a locker room…gag! The Native Shoes were run through all the same paces and they never, ever smelled. (see last years review) I don’t know the sorcery (or science) behind it but it was really appreciated! Of course I love other things about Native Shoes….
- I’m a child of the 80’s and I wanted to believe that jelly shoes were the answer to all life’s problems, but they hurt, a lot! Native Shoes are like the idea of my beloved childhood dream shoe, but way cooler and a million times more comfortable. Oh how I wish 8-year old me got to wear these shoes! Whenever I see my boys wearing them I feel a little cheated. Isn’t it bad enough I actually had a tight perm AND a rat tail at the same time but I also had terrible footwear! Kids today have everything!
- I love the fresh take on iconic styles. The vibrant colours are so fun and eye-catching. Everywhere we go we are asked about them! Let the compliments roll in!
- Native Shoes has lines for Men, Women and Children. They have a Canadian website and an International website. They ship all around the world from Vancouver (another reason I love the company, they are BC based).
- They use EVA. Ok I don’t actually know what that means…
What is EVA?
EVA is the common name for ethylene-vinyl acetate. These weird words translate into a feeling of cool and cushy freedom for your feet. Think of EVA as the marshmallow that never melts; the spring in your step. The natural characteristics of the material make it great for footwear because it molds to your feet. It’s also incredibly lightweight, shock absorbent, washable, waterproof, and odor-resistant. All Native shoes are also animal by-product free. We’re friends with animals, aren’t you?
My youngest son got to choose a pair of Jefferson shoes from the Marbled collection. He loved these shoes from the instant he tried them on, which was my other sons experience as well! I love that they pair well with shorts and t-shirt as well with dressier clothes. It is pretty exciting for this mama that he can put his own shoes on with no hassle, sometimes even on the correct feet!
Have you or your littles tried shoes from Native?

Great looking shoes!
My son just got a pair!! I vowed to find non-stinkable shoes, and thesewere the onesmy research led me to 🙂 He pickedthe Jeffersons with the glow in the dark sole 🙂
These sound like the perfect shoes for kids and pretty indestructible too it seems. So it could well be that the holes allow the feet to breath thus no stinkiness and that’s always a huge plus – now these as hockey skates would be fantastic.
I’ve heard of Native shoes….never owned a pair. But I’ve learned a lot about this brand and might have to snag a pair for my girl!
These would be great for waterparks!!
These look great. I am interested to read that they make shoes for adults as well. I will have to check them out.
I think they are so funky cool! fun way to have some fun with colours
I’ve got my eye on the Venice marbled child in Hollywood Pink / Marble! Love the look and the colors are just perfect!
My granddaughter has a pair of these and wore them all summer.
