In anticipation of our son’s first day back at pre-school next week I have been printing some super helpful activity sheets from HP Printables to help get him into the back-to-school groove. Most of our summer was spent playing, exploring outdoors and we didn’t do a lot of formal “homework”. Totally normal and expected at his age but he has been eager to do some more educational activities.
Using our HP Photosmart printer and its wireless Internet connection I was able to explore some fun kids apps, including Disney, Dreamworks, Education.com and more, right from the printer’s touchscreen. The apps provide free printables with activities ranging from colouring pages, educational print outs, crafts and more. They even have some super fun 3D character building print outs. I printed one of Shrek for us to work on and it was great.
Disney printables have different character categories including Frozen, Disney’s Planes and some other popular movies/shows. Our little one loves the movie Planes so we printed a bunch of Planes themed colouring printables. So easy! No need to go to the store to buy activity books.
HP Printables also offers options for you to schedule printings, you can select a time, day of the week when you want the printing to happen and get a weekly printout of activities for your little one. I love not even having to think about it and walking pass the printer to find activity sheets ready for the day. We scheduled a “Practice Number of the Week” sheet for our son using the Disney app and he loves practicing his numbers that way.
Most children in BC are not going back to school next week due to the teacher strike. Using HP Printables to get educational crafts and activities for little ones staying at home is an easy way to keep children entertained, no screen time needed. There are many apps worth checking out and using the scheduling function in the printer is a big time saver.

Great printables! I am definitely looking for something to get my son into the school mode, since I know we won’t be going back next week. I still want him to feel like school is happening…or will happen eventually!
