Mount Pleasant, one of our favourite neighbourhoods in Vancouver, is home to a mix of unique restaurants and bars, breweries, indie shops, and more. We headed there for dinner the other night and ended up at ¿CóMO? Taperia, a local tapas bar and restaurant inspired by classic tapas bars in Spain, conveniently located on Main and East 7th Avenue.
The restaurant was bustling with people upon our arrival, a good sign right from the start. With a fun, upbeat ambience, we felt welcomed as we walked in, and thanks to the friendly staff we were seated right away.
What I love about tapas is the ready-to-eat small bite dishes that are fun to share. Really great when you are with children, and they want to try a bit of everything without having to commit to ordering one full-size dish.
My husband got the Superflux Hazy IPA beer, his favourite, and I ordered a glass of sangria. The kids drank some ginger beer, and we ordered a couple of items from the menu to get started.
We tried the Marinated Olives and they were so full of flavour, mouthwatering. We also ordered the Patatas Bravas, our favourite dish of the night, and we ended up ordering another round of these. Something about the chipotle spice and sauce mix that was irresistible.
We tried the Chorizo, and we all loved it, especially the boys, as well as the Meatballs, bursting with so much flavour in every bite. The Steak & Peppers was another one of my favourites, the steak was juicy and cooked to perfection, and the padrón peppers were just delicious.
The kids shared the Bikini (grilled cheese sandwich with ham), and we all had some Pan con Tomate and a Cheese plate on the side. All so enjoyable.

Overall we had a very satisfying meal, an explosion of delicious flavours with every dish, and the dishes all were delivered so fast. No long waits for your meal to come, kind of the perfect situation when you are with young kids. Upbeat music, friendly servers and just a fun time in general.
Next time, we will leave the kids at home and check out some of the other items at the bar. They offer premium gins with unique tonics, local craft beer, cocktails on tap and Spanish Vermouth aperitif wine on tap.
At the end of the night, we got our bill and paid using our credit card and their wireless machine. Took a few seconds and we were out the door and ready to head home.
We love supporting local businesses and getting to experience all the great spots the city has to offer. If you are ever in the Mount Pleasant area or looking for a new place to check out, I highly suggest you consider stopping by ¿CóMO? Taperia. You’ll enjoy an authentic Spanish tapas bar experience with exceptionally friendly customer service.
