I love me a super comfortable chair. I suspect that kids also can’t resist a little chair of their own to read in or watch television. What I don’t love is the garish-looking character chairs that are readily available or the ridiculously expensive miniature club chairs that look far too fancy for a playroom. Candide Baby, a French company, has a cute alternative that includes some storage and a blanket to boot. Candide says they designed the armchair in conjunction with child development experts to help babies learn to sit up and is geared towards babies aged 9 months and up.
At just under 6 months baby E is already sitting up and I don’t think the chair would have helped much in that regard. I can’t quite imagine how a soft unstructured chair would help a baby learn to sit but if it did, that would be a huge plus.
The chair that I was sent is cute, but does have a somewhat juvenile image on it. It isn’t exactly my cup of tea, but my husband (who generally doesn’t have much of an opinion on baby items in any way, shape or form) thinks it’s the cutest item we have in the house. He even went so far as to say that he can’t wait for her to sit in it so he could put the remote in the side pocket and a beer in the cup holder. True story.
The chair is quite small for a toddler chair and while my 6-year-old did manage to sit in it (not comfortably), it would probably be best suited for the under 2 set. It comes with a fully removable and washable cover, which is really a necessity for anything geared for toddlers. The chair also has some areas that are lined with PVC, which may be waterproof and durable, but it isn’t a material that I like to see in products these days due to its toxicity.
The armchair with blanket retails for $59.99 USD and is available on Amazon. I think considering the small size of the chair and limited time it could be used, the price is on the high side. Candide does, however, make a large variety of baby and children’s items and many of them are quite modern looking and something I would love to add to the baby’s room.
Do your children have a favourite chair or place to sit and relax?

This is great for toddlers who want their own space to sit; a replica of an adult chair. For the super-little one’s who are still learning to sit up or learning their dimensional reasoning, I would also be concerned they would take a header off the chair…
Cute chair! I like that the cover is removable for wash….
I would really like to get one of these for my son’s room!
What adorable photos! I love this chair and my children would have loved it also when they were that age.
I like the fact that it has a fully removable and washable cover. I do think this sort of chair isn’t suitable for a child that young, I’d suspect that since they do move a lot that they’d be liable to fall out or over the armrest. Of course at such a young age their legs don’t reach the floor either so shuffling about to get off when they’ve had enough might also cause the chair to tip over – I have no idea whether it is stabilised in some fashion.
Aw this is so cute! My niece would love it!
