The Groclock by The Gro Company is a sleep training & learning clock that helps encourage little ones to stay in bed longer and to go back to sleep when waking up too early or in the middle of the night. The Gro-clock uses fun images of stars and the sun to let your young child know when to go back to sleep and when it’s time to get up.
This innovative clock also allows you to display a digital clock during the stars to sun countdown to help kids learn to read digital time. Such a great way to get little ones excited about the arrival of the sun!
I received a sample from Rockpretty Baby, an online retailer from Calgary, and I absolutely love the clock and the way it works. I like that you can use a demo mode to easily explain how the clock works and you see all the sun and Mr Star transitions.
Right away after setting the Groclock up in his room my son was excited and he was counting down the time until bed time. I must say that it feels great knowing that the clock is in his room for those days when he wakes up at 5am or in the middle of the night and he doesn’t know if it’s the right time to get up.
I also explained that if he needs us or needs to go to the washroom he can call us but otherwise if he can continue sleeping he has to go to back to bed and wait until the sun appears. If he wakes up early in the morning before it’s time to wake up and his room has light from the windows he is also allowed to grab a book or a toy to play with while he waits for the sun.
One feature that I really like is the key-lock option. I know that my son plays with the clock after we leave the room and I like knowing that he can’t change the times we set up or add alarms without us knowing.
In general I just love the fact that the Groclock makes it fun and exciting for him to stay in bed and call us once he knows it’s o.k. and it’s time to wake up. I have also started displaying the digital clock because I think it’s a great way to help my 3-year-old learn how to read it.
If your child is waking up in the middle of the night or early in the morning I suggest you think about using a Groclock. It may change the way your family sleeps! If somebody in your family or one of your friends is struggling with the same consider purchasing one as a holiday gift. The gift of a good night sleep is truly priceless!

I have heard great things about the Gro Clock and have been considered getting one for my toddler. He has no concept of time and likes to come get us at 5am. We wanted a clock that will teach him when it’s wake up time.
I can’t recommend this clock enough! It has saved our sleep! Our toddler now wakes up and checks his clock first before leaving his room in the mornings. He reads books, plays and has quiet time until the sun appears. Such a great invention!
What a super cute invention! I love how it has graphics a child can understand. Also, that it has a story.
this is a fantastic clock, marvellous that someone has thought about helping stressed out parents with this problem. I also like the look of the clock and the pictures that even a child can comprehend.
Love this clock, what a great idea! I think I will have to get one for my sister to help her with my niece. Thanks for the gift idea!
