We have been dealing with snow for the last few days here in East Vancouver, and even though the streets look all white and pretty, our city is a total mess. It was chaos on the roads and schools in the Vancouver district were all cancelled today.
So we had a snow day, left our cars parked in front of the house, worked from home, made some hot chocolate and enjoyed the day together.
The boys had a blast playing with the snow, and they helped clear the sidewalk this morning. We also brought down the biggest icicles that were attached to our roof drain pipe. Imagine being hit on the head with those! OUCH!
We are sharing a picture heavy post with images from our winter wonderland in Vancouver.

So now the question is. Are the schools going to be cancelled again in Vancouver tomorrow, Jan 16, 2020? I think there is a big chance that we will have a second snow day. It all depends on what happens overnight.
We are not used to this, and it is hilarious how the rest of the country laughs at our snow issues. Temperature-wise it isn’t very cold; the problem is that the city isn’t ready to deal with snow. Drivers don’t have snow tires, and public transit comes to a halt.
I wonder if we are ever going to be ready. With global warming and all the environmental changes, we can only expect more storms like this every year. Only time will tell.
In the meantime, stay safe and warm Vancouver.

So much snow for Vancouver! Wow! Incredible.
Holly! You have more than us in Toronto!
We are starting to get snow here in Ontario. My dad is looking forward to the storm, because he’s a big kid and wants to play with his snowblower.
