We are so excited to introduce to you the new member of our family. There is no way to introduce a little 8-week-old puppy without lots and lots of pictures, so this is going to be a picture heavy post, I promise she is cute and worth the bandwidth though!
So we have been ready to get a puppy and have been talking about it since the summer. With the boys now a bit older, and our youngest in Kindergarten, it felt like the perfect time to add a puppy to our family.
Finding the right breed was not easy, we knew hypoallergenic and non-shedding was the smart choice, so that helped narrow it down but it still felt overwhelming to make a decision. We also considered Shelties and Australian Shepherds at some point.
We ended up waiting until after our Turks and Caicos trip to make sure we were not leaving a tiny new puppy for a week while we were away, and last Sunday, we found our girl. We went to meet her at her guardian home and fell in love. After meeting her, there was no way we were going to be leaving without her.
Naming her took us three days, and it was so difficult, we couldn’t agree on a name. We called her Sophie but a little bit but that didn’t stick. In the end, we came up with JADA (jay-da), a combination of all of the letters in our first names 🙂 Jasper, Aidaan, Danjel and Angela.
I feel like somehow picking our children’s names was easier for us than picking our dog’s name. But, she has a name now.
So without further ado, meet our Jada.
Sophie is a sweet, playful pup and loves cuddles. These last few days have not been very productive work-wise, but I mean how can I possibly refuse the brand new puppy cuddles?
She is very smart, and she is doing a good job at learning how to stay in her crate for short periods and with house training as well.
Having a new pup reminds me of our newborn baby days, lack of sleep and a little one eating, sleeping and pooping all day long! I am not going to lie; it is a lot of work, but so rewarding already. The boys are in love and really happy to have a new friend and family member. She loves when they come home from school to play with her, and she crashes and naps for a long time right after they go to bed!
