I was recently sent a wonderful gift bag full of goodies that included The Healthy Shopper’s Top Picks products for the Fall 2012. Randy Boyer and Andrea Donsky from The Healthy Shopper selected some amazing, natural, organic and eco-conscious products this time around to encourage Canadians to make healthier choices.
They have chosen products from the salad dressings and sauces category because these products often contain high amounts of sodium and preservatives. They have highlighted the only 100% organic feminine hygiene brand because they really want women know about this safe, organic alternative for their bodies. And, their last choice is a selection of natural cleaning products because as we know, the majority of cleaning products available in supermarkets often contain high levels of toxins that are just plain bad for the environment and our health.
We love San-J products and we were happy to see them included in this package. Their product selection includes gluten-free options, like their delicious gluten-free Teriyaki Sauce and their gluten-free Orange Sauce. The Orange Sauce goes great with chicken and tofu. Yummy!
I was also excited to learn about Natracare, a brand of women’s hygiene products. I love that they have a full range of 100% organic sanitary products and their products are GOTS certified, they don’t contain any synthetics, perfume or chlorine. I received some of their organic cotton intimate wipes and I like that they are flushable, biodegradable and compostable.
We also got a copy of the book Unjunk Your Junk Food, by Andrea Donsky, Randy Boyer and Lisa Tsakos. This colorful book has a lot of great information that will help you make better choices when purchasing the foods you love. I really liked the tips for reading food labels and recognizing false claims and the lists of savvy alternatives to conventional brands.
We eat a lot of vegetables and salads at home and the Simply Organic salad dressings we received have been a hit at home. We love the Honey Mustard, Creamy Ceasar and their Italian with Roasted Red Peppers. Seriously delicious! They are all certified organic and taste amazing.
Finally, we also received a selection of Ecover plant and mineral-based cleaning products. Their Ecover ZERO Natural Laundry Powder is fragrance-free and free of phosphates; the Pomegranate and Lime Dish Liquid is made without foam boosters that don’t biodegrade and it smells heavenly; and finally the Bay Breeze Natural Toilet Bowl Cleaner removes tough stains, decalcifies and freshen the toilet bowl without the need of harsh chemicals.
We love the products we got to try and recommend you check them out in your next shopping trip! Making healthier choices for you and your family has never been easier. Get your free 2012-2013 coupon book on their site now!

Thanks for this! I am always looking for healthier alternatives for my family but with all the “greenwashing” out there sometimes it is hard to know what to choose.
Wow they offer just about everything. I try to buy healthy and eco friendly for my family, so I’m so glad you shared this 🙂
Wow..thanks for this! I think we consumers need more options than just what’s available at the major markets!
I have heard of 3/4 of those brands! I have only tried one 🙂
Going to try those sauces and dressings for sure
I also found Unjunk your Junk Food by Donsky, Boyer & Tsakos to be a very good guide in getting my eating habits cleaned up! Shows great ways to eat the things you crave that are bad for you in a more healthful way.
Thanks!
Cool products! Definitely going to try the Honey Mustard Simply Organic salad dressing (LOVE honey mustard dressing), and the San-J gluten free products. I have some friends on gluten-free diets, and it’ll be great to try them when they come over for dinner next!
Most of these brands are new to me. I’m glad there are better alternatives these days. I love it when I find a naturally made product that tastes great too. Thanks for the info!
