There’s nothing like having a new baby around to make you realize how old and wrinkly your own skin is. I’m 32 years old and I think I’ve done a swell job of aging gracefully with just a light face wash and dab of coconut oil. But since becoming a mother, I can see the wrinkles barging in (the gray hairs are for another post). It’s time for the next level of skin care to preemptively strike.
In the sea of bad beauty products full of nasty chemicals, fragrances and colors, there are a few brands that are made out of high quality ingredients infused with healthy vitamins. After doing a bit of research, here are a few recommended products to consider when going green in 2014 with natural-ingredient beauty products:
- derma e® Hydrating Eye Crème with Hyaluronic Acid – This best-selling eye crème deeply hydrates, firms and tones the eye areas to reduce the look of crow’s feet.
- derma e® Age-Defying Day Crème with Astaxanthin – This ultimate, anti-aging, antioxidant-rich daily moisturizer helps diminish signs of aging while defending skin from future damage.
- La Fresh® Eco-Beauty® Nail Polish Remover Acetone-Free Pads – Bye-bye polish removers that are harsh on the nails and harsh on the nose. Hello fresh, healthy nails and an incredibly delicious scent.
- La Fresh® Eco-Beauty® Instant Body Soother Wipes – Bye-bye dry, over-worked, over-heated skin. Hello cool, refreshing moisture and a silky, ravishing glow.
derma e® products are paraben-free, gluten-free, GMO-free, vegetarian/vegan, cruelty-free, mineral oil and lanolin-free, recyclable, and include quality ingredients that have been evaluated to ensure each source has sufficient quality control measures and manufactured in both sustainable and responsible practices.
I received samples of the derma e® Hydrating Eye Crème and derma e® Age-Defying Day Crème to try. My first requirement of a new beauty product is that it not smell too strongly. And while these derma e® products do have scents, they are mild and seem to dissipate quickly once applied. After using the products for about a week I noticed something exciting: after a hot shower, when my face would have ordinarily felt like a cardboard box, I discovered that my face was soft as my baby’s elbow. The derma e® is working!
While I know that genetics, diet and environment all effect how quickly a face ages and wrinkles, moisturizing the skin with natural ingredients does help slow the process. I don’t know about you, but while I’m sleep deprived with small children, I’m going to keep moisturizing to give myself a fighting chance. Be gone, wrinkles!
La Fresh®’s Eco-Beauty® line is free of parabens, sulfates, triclosan, dyes, PEGs, artificial fragrances, and animal byproducts. The line is also biodegradable, compostable, made with highly natural formulation, and made in California from clean, renewable solar energy.
I think it’s safe to say we’ve all been in that spot when all we really want to do is get a hot shower and call it a night, but instead have to find our second wind to [fill in the blank with tiring activity like grocery shopping or homework]. Here’s where the La Fresh Body Smoother wipes come in. They are individually wrapped wipes that are moistened with all sorts of natural ingredients that when wiped on dry skin make you feel all moisturized, tingly and fresh.
After a long day with the kids last week, I needed to get a work project knocked out before bed and I was really dragging. Like not-enough-coffee-in-Venezuela-could-perk-me-up dragging. I rubbed one of the wipes on my arms and neck and instantly felt perkier. I guess you could say these La Fresh wipes are the next best thing to a shower and a nap. In other words – as a working mother of two babies, they are my new best friends.
And maybe it’s just me, but a major reason why I don’t like painting my nails often is because the polishes and removers are either crazy toxic or are eco-friendly and kind of suck. The La Fresh Polish Removing wipes might just change my mind. Not only are they free of nasty ingredients like parabens and sulfates, they smell yummy, and actually work. I was able to remove the polish from both hands with a single wipe.
While the granola in me doesn’t love that the La Fresh wipes are individually-wrapped, rather than packaged in a single container, the wipes are 100% biodegradable, super convenient and practical for on-the-go use. Can we say, “ultimate stocking stuffers??”

Thanks for the info!
I’ve tried the Derma-e products and I love them. Gotta check out La Fresh now.
great looking products. would like to,try the smoother wipes.
those wipes sound amazing. I have always avoided using the eco-friendlier type as like you say they suck. I don’t often use nail polish but when I do I like to be able to remove it easily without too much messing around. These wipes sound like they’ll do the trick so I’ll try them out next time I use nail polish. Thanks for the tip 🙂
We can all use every bit of help we can get once we turn 50
