My son is a big fan of toys that not only bring the fun but also allow him to problem solve. The Gear Head Wood Crate Set checked all his boxes and then some!
With my help, we removed the plastic wrapper to find a red toolbox and a wood crate. He enjoyed finding mini versions of the tools that his Dad has in his toolbox, as well as the mini car key.
Each crate came with surprise vehicle legend which we both enjoyed looking at, as well as easy to read instructions. Once he figured that he needed the socket wrench to release the tire from the crate, he spun the tire to find out which mystery vehicle he got – We thought this was super cool and very exciting! He loved that he needed a car key to launch his vehicle and for a small car, it certainly launches.
The product is well made and well thought out. It not only appeals to boys but to girls as well as my 4-year-old daughter enjoyed playing with them too. It is a good quality toy and the attention to detail that the company, Red Planet has paid to every part of the Gear Head experience shows this. My son and I really liked the different rims that he got and the tools are amazing.
My son, who is 6, found these toys to be quite enjoyable and spent some time “fixing” his new cars using the tools provided to him. When my son is done playing with them, he stores his cars in their designated crates and returns to them when he wants to play without any concerns of losing an item. Side note: Can I say that is such a win for everyone when toys come with a storage system.
Our family loves a good surprise/unboxing toy and this is the first one we’ve come across that caters to boys as well.
As a parent, I really liked the concept of the Gear Head Packs as my son requires a toy that gets his gears going (I made a punny!). He loves to problem solve and although I could have easily let him know what to do, I gave him a chance to navigate through the situation on his own. We looked at the instructions together and since they were mostly visual, he was able to figure out the toy with no issues.
I’m a big fan of a toy that promotes imaginary play and together, our family has truly enjoyed playing with each of our favourite Gear Head vehicles together. At its $13 price tag (Toys R us Canada), I feel that the experience and quality of toy you receive are well worth the purchase.

This is so cool and my granddaughter would love it as well, she loves playing with her dads tools and always has to be in the garage with the guys when they are working on the trucks
This sounds like a great ‘toy’ for kids, allowing them to use their imagination to solve a puzzle. I do like this idea and kids will too.
This is a great unbox for boys and girl alike, I like that they can actually do something with the vehicles.
such a cool idea for a toy!! my daughters … especially my oldest, LOVE unboxing toys. they are her favorite. she always watches those unboxing videos too
Awesome! I know a kiddo who would just love this!
Looks like a wonderful toy for kids that encourage creativity and imaginative play. I bet the unboxing would be a whole lot of fun as well.
