We are thrilled to announce that we are part of the LeapFrog Mom Ambassador program. As a mom ambassador I received a welcome kit with some of the latest LeapFrog products including the new LeapPad Platinum, LeapFrog Imagicards and the LeapFrog Word Whammer to test.

My four and a half year old has been trying out all of the products and these have been lots of fun for him to use as he prepares to start Kindergarten next week. I am constantly looking for educational products that are fun for him so I was excited for him to try these.

LeapPad Platinum & Imagicard Games

The new LeapPad Platinum learning tablet (for ages 3-9) features a 7″ high-resolution multi-touch screen that is shatter-safe and has a protective wrap-around bumper that makes it the most durable and toughest LeapPad ever.

The LeapPad Platinum is Wi-Fi ready and it features 8GB of memory, front and back camera and video recorder, music player, kid-safe web browser and full learning library.

Setting up the tablet took us about 5 minutes and it was extremely easy. After connecting the device to our WiFi network and signing into our LeapPad account all of the Apps we had purchased in our old LeapPad were automatically downloaded and appeared in the LeapPad Platinum’s home menu. I loved how easy that was.

I also really like that LeapFrog has a library of over 1,000 educational games, books, videos and more, there are SO many great Apps to choose from.

Something I must note is that the LeapPad Platinum is 2.3 pounds so it could be a bit heavy. Keep that in mind if you are purchasing this tablet for younger children.

With our welcome kit we also received three packs of the new Imagicard educational cards. We got the Paw Patrol, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Letter Factory games. Below is a little video of my son playing with the Paw Patrol Imagicard game.

LeapFrog Imagicards are a set of cards that have identifying marks on them. You use the cards with the LeapFrog tablet. The device takes a picture of the card and a 3D animation comes to life on the screen,  unlocking more gameplay.

Imagicard come in a branded tin for easy storage and a play mat for card sorting is included. My son has been enjoying playing with his Imagicard sets and I love that they are educational and help practice his letters and numbers/counting. His favourite set is the Paw Patrol one and he can play with it for hours.

These cards truly make learning fun!

Word Whammer

While I was busy charging and setting up the LeapPad my son grabbed the LeapFrog Word Whammer and started playing with it. Without any instructions he figured out how to start playing and spent the next 20 minutes playing with it. Every couple of minutes he would look up and tell me about a new word he was spelling, with a big smile on his face.  I love that the device was intuitive and easy to operate right out of the box for my four year old.

The Word Whammer features 3 games and 5 learning levels, recommended for ages 4+. Children push and twist the handle to identify letters and build works, while practicing early phonics and spelling skills.

My son is now constantly asking to play with the Word Whammer and he loves when he gets the spelling right and wins the rewards. I appreciate that this device adapts as my son plays and keeps him motivated and challenged.  This is a great device for reading/spelling practice and I love that he is learning lots while he plays.
