The boys recently received a couple of YakBot robots from Really RAD Robots, and they’ve been having lots of fun with them. These have been perfect for them to play with during the summer break!
These cute little robots record your voice and play it back. When replaying your recording you can warp your voice and choose from 4 different effects (pitch shift, reverse, robot and echo).
The boys have been recording all sorts of sounds and playing them back all over the house. You can imagine their boy jokes and all the sounds coming out of the YakBot. Thankfully the playback is not obnoxiously loud so we are hoping the neighbours don’t mind all the recording and replaying. Lots of good fun for them.
The robot also has a feature to answer your questions with a YES/No and that has also been a hit with the boys. The answers are often pretty cheeky and it makes them laugh lots.
Finally, there is a “prank” feature. You can press a few bottoms and pass the robot to an unsuspecting friend to surprise them. They were giggly when they first passed me the robot and “pranked” me. They have been pranking all of their friends as well and planning who they are going to prank next.
The YakBot robots are great for ages 5-9 and they are pretty inexpensive at$21.99 each. They are available at your local Toys ”R” Us and Walmart.

I think my godson would love this! As long as its not obnoxious (because my BFF would be annoyed with me), I think the recording and playback aspect will be a huge hit with the kiddo!
My boys are using the app that records voices and noises on my phone all the time lately. They would definitely love this!
My kids would love the voice changer. They use an app on their ipad that does it and they laugh so hard every time.
