This relatively compact vacuum makes it easy to store when not in use. The docking station is compact and low-profile, blending with my furniture and home decor.
The docking station is designed to recharge the vacuum and has dust compression technology. This allows the vacuum to self-empty and store debris after cleanup for up to seven weeks. I love not having to empty the dustbag after every clean.

How It Cleans
The Narwal Freo X Plus excels at both vacuuming and mopping. Its powerful suction easily picks up dust, dirt, long human hair, and pet hair, even on rugs. The vacuum’s innovative mapping system uses LiDAR technology to create an accurate layout of your home, ensuring thorough coverage and efficient cleaning patterns.
I like that this robot used LiDAR instead of cameras, as other brands that use cameras have had some controversy in the past regarding privacy.
During the setup, the robot maps the entire house before cleanup to familiarize itself with the environment and all the rooms. Like other robot vacuums, you must put away wires, toys and other obstacles on the floor.
I love that once you have your house map set up, with all your rooms and different areas, you can change the name of the rooms and tell the robot the floor material (hardwood/tile/etc.) so that it adjusts the cleaning according to the floor.
One of the standout features of the Freo X Plus is its ability to switch between vacuuming and mopping seamlessly. The mop function is impressive; it scrubs floors effectively. I run it daily to keep my kitchen clean, and I love how it saves me so much time. The water tank is also sizable, reducing the need for frequent refills, and the reusable mop pads are designed to be durable and easy to remove and clean after each mop.
One thing I noticed right away, and I loved, was that it is way quieter than my older robot vacuum. I could watch TV without turning the volume way up when I was vacuuming in the TV room.
App Control
The Narwal Freo X Plus is compatible with a companion app (Narwal Freo) that allows you to control the vacuum remotely, schedule cleanings, and customize cleaning modes. I like that the app is intuitive and user-friendly, making it easy to navigate.
Some of the controls you can adjust via the app are:
Auto Dust Bin/Bag Bacterial control: When turned on, the dust bin/bag will be automatically air-dried for bacteria inhibition after the robot completes a cleaning task that involves vacuuming.
Family with Pets: When turned on, the robot will adjust the dust bin and dust bag maintenance cycle intelligently
Default Cleaning Modes: Vacuum and mop, Vacuum then Mop, Vacuum, Mop.
Edge Mode: In the Edge Mode, the robot will wiggle to thoroughly clean edges. But it may take a longer time.
In the app you can also Manage Accessories and see time left until replacement is needed in parts like the Side Brushes, Washable Mop Pads, Dust Bin Filters and more.
The Narwal Freo X Plus also integrates with voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, allowing for hands-free operation. You can start or stop a cleaning session with simple voice commands, which is a convenient feature for those with busy lifestyles.
Battery Life
Battery life is crucial for any robotic vacuum, and the Narwal Freo X Plus doesn’t disappoint. It offers up to 4 hours and 14 minutes of runtime on a single charge, which is enough to clean large homes or multiple rooms. It cleans our main floor without having to recharge. When the battery is low, the vacuum returns to its docking station to recharge before resuming its task, ensuring the job is always completed.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Excellent suction and mopping capabilities. I love the unique zero-tangling brush that performs well with long hair. I am constantly shedding my long hair, and other robot vacuums I have owned get tangled all the time—not a problem with this one!
- Self-empty and dust storage so you don’t have to clear the dust bin after every job.
- LiDAR technology that ensures efficient cleaning routes and allows you to schedule cleanings in specific rooms and areas.
- Easy to control app that allows you to customize cleaning settings.
- Up to 4 hours of runtime on a single charge.
- Price is lower than competitors with similar features.
Cons:
- The mopping function is excellent for maintaining a clean floor, but understandably full deep cleans are required between uses. It’s not the best with set-in stains, but that is expected.
- I wish I could use a cleaning solution instead of just water when mopping. But that would requiere the robot to refill water, rinse and empty it. This is an option if you purchase the higher-end Narwal robot version, which does that automatically but that increases in size as well.
The Narwal Freo X Plus is a pretty impressive little robot that delivers on its promises. It features intelligent automation and user-friendly features at a great price point, making it a top contender in the robotic vacuum market. I love its convenience and efficiency, which simplify my home cleaning routine.
