I love easy seasonal crafts that are fun for the kids to make and can be displayed around the house. We made this cute handprint turkey craft with my youngest at our local Strong Start. I loved the idea so much I had to share it here so you can also get your child into the Thanksgiving spirit!
The iconic Thanksgiving turkey makes a classic piece of holiday art decoration and it is super easy to make!
What You Will Need:
- Construction paper
- Brown, yellow, green, red and any other seasonal colours of washable hand paint
- Paintbrushes
- Black marker
- Googly eye stickers
How To Do It:
- Paint the thumb and palm of your little one’s hand brown, for the turkey’s head and body.
- Paint the other four fingers with the remainder colours, for the feathers.
- Get your little one to stamp his hand onto the piece of construction paper. Press down on their hand gently and wait a few seconds. Remove their hand carefully.
- Ask your child to draw the legs with the marker.
- Add the googly eyes.
- Allow to dry.
Super fun and easy!

that’s a fun project for a rainy day
Best idea ever, from the best Strong Start facilitator ever! She stamped their hands a couple of times on the same paper and when the kids move their fingers around a bit, it changed up the turkeys. Those are the COOLEST googly eye stickers!
Cute! Im going to do this today with my kids.
I should think that kids love making these turkeys, it’s fun, they’re proud of their masterpiece and they get their hands dirty too, an added bonus 🙂
I love these and with try them with the granddkids when they come tomorrow
we made these today it was loads of fun and also loads of mess, but we had a blast
Gotta love handprint crafts!
that is very cute and creative for the kids to try
I really like this ‘fun turkey hand print’ craft. It’s super easy and the kids will love it. After all, you are putting paint on their hands and they are allowed to put their hand prints on paper. Then they get to draw in the legs and You could help them glue on the googly eyes. Then tape on the frig with their name on it so all may admire the artwork.
These were loads of fun to do,we had \Turkey taped everywhere
This is a really fast & easy craft for the small children to make.
This will be a wonderful craft to do with any of our great grandchildren this fall and then display the results for Thanksgiving. It seems easy to make-the most important part is that little hand! Thank you for sharing.
Well I have to tell the truth and say that these turkeys are ugly and cute at the same time. Great craft project !
