Eye exams should be an important part of every parent’s back to school routine. Since 80% of a child’s learning is through their eyes, undiagnosed vision problems can have a significant impact on your child’s reading, writing, sports and other visual tasks at school.
Below I am sharing some important signs to watch out for at home since vision changes can often happen without parents or children even noticing.

- Closing one eye to read or watch TV

- A sudden drop in grades
Since 1 in 4 kids has an undiagnosed vision problem, getting their vision checked every year before school is essential.

However, the doctors were extremely friendly and made sure to explain everything that was happening, step by step, to make him feel comfortable. They also asked him personal questions like, what his favourite animal was, etc., to get to know him better and get him to feel more relaxed. During the exam, they patiently answered all of our questions, and at the end of the appointment, we were told to come back in a year to do a check-up. Thankfully his vision was perfect!
Remember that even if your child has no symptoms or diagnosed vision problems, you should still get their eyes tested annually. 1 in 4 children has an undiagnosed vision problem and eyeglasses can mean the difference between a child thriving at school or falling behind.

It’s very important to get the kids eyes checked early on in life, if there is any problems they can be fixed..sooner is better then later
This is so important. It pays to remember that a child often doesn’t realise that it doesn’t see as well as others since they have no comparison when they’re young.
Eye health is so very important, especially in the classroom.
We had yearly eye appointments for our kids. It was always a priority.
