Today we walked over to our local Vancouver library and picked up our free Vancouver Inspiration Pass. I found out about the pass last year and placed a hold back then using my library card. I am excited to say that after a long wait it is finally our turn and we get to enjoy the pass for the next two weeks. The timing couldn’t be better!
What’s an Inspiration Pass? The Vancouver Inspiration Pass is a free cultural and recreational pass program that allows individuals, families and teens to explore Vancouver like never before. With the pass you and your family get free access to popular attractions, museums, heritage sites, fitness facilities, world-class gardens and cultural performances in the city for two weeks, including:
- Beaty Biodiversity Museum

- Chinese Canadian Military Museum
- Chinese Cultural Centre Museum
- Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden
- Goh Ballet
- H.R. MacMillan Space Centre
- Maison Musée Roedde/Roedde House Museum
- Maplewood Farm
- Museum of Vancouver
- Nitobe Memorial Garden
- Science World
- UBC Botanical Garden
- UBC Museum of Anthropology
- Vancouver Aquarium
- Vancouver Art Gallery
- Vancouver Bach Choir
- Vancouver Maritime Museum
- Vancouver Opera
- Vancouver Police Museum
- Vancouver Symphony Orchestra
- Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir
- VanDusen Botanical Garden
Free for Vancouver residents aged 14 years and older, the pass is valid for a period of two weeks, and can be borrowed through any Vancouver Public Library location. There are 140 passes available for loan every two weeks – 20 are available through the Central Library downtown and six passes available at each of VPL branches across the city.
To borrow a Vancouver Inspiration Pass, you must be a Vancouver resident aged 14 years or older with a valid Vancouver Public Library card. Using your library card, you can simply place a hold on the Vancouver Inspiration Pass via the library’s online catalogue.
We are ready to explore and excited to visit as many places as we can during the next few weeks. Have you heard about the Vancouver Inspiration Pass before? Have you ever used one?
