Our family—comprising my in-laws, my spouse, our toddler, and myself—embarked on a multi-generational vacation to Hotel Riu Santa Fe in Los Cabos, Mexico. This expansive, all-inclusive resort provided a delightful experience that catered to all ages, making our trip both memorable and enjoyable.
Resort Overview
Situated on the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula along the picturesque El Médano Beach, Hotel Riu Santa Fe boasts over 1,000 rooms designed for maximum comfort. Each room is equipped with air conditioning, a minibar, and beverage dispensers, ensuring a pleasant stay for guests. The resort’s vast grounds are adorned with well-maintained gardens, we loved that, and traditional Mexican architecture, creating a vibrant and inviting atmosphere.
Beach and Swimming
El Médano Beach, adjacent to the resort, offers a beautiful stretch of sand perfect for sunbathing and leisurely walks. However, it’s important to note that due to strong currents and powerful waves, swimming directly off the beach is not advised. Despite this, the beach provides stunning views and ample opportunities for relaxation.
To compensate for the limited ocean swimming, the resort features seven swimming pools, some equipped with swim-up bars and hydromassage areas. Our family particularly enjoyed the Splash Water World, an on-site water park that provided endless entertainment for our toddler and was a hit among guests of all ages.
Dining Options
Hotel Riu Santa Fe offers a diverse culinary experience with several dining venues catering to various tastes. The main restaurant, Don Rafael, serves buffets with live cooking stations and themed dinners multiple times a week. The resort also features specialty restaurants for those seeking variety, including a steakhouse and Mexican, Italian, and Asian options. We found ample choices that satisfied everyone in our group, including our toddler. The availability of 24-hour snacks and a regularly restocked minibar added convenience.
Family-Friendly Amenities
Beyond the pools and water park, the resort offers the RiuLand Kids’ Club, providing daytime entertainment programs for children aged 4 to 12. This allowed our toddler to engage in age-appropriate activities while the adults enjoyed other amenities. Additionally, the resort’s animation team organizes daily activities and nightly live shows, ensuring there’s always something to do for guests of all ages.
One downside of Hotel Riu Santa Fe’s popularity is that some facilities can become overcrowded, especially during peak seasons. We had some challenges in finding available lounge chairs by the pool, as well as long wait times at bars and restaurants. While the resort offers plenty of amenities, the high volume of visitors can sometimes take away from the relaxing, stress-free experience many travelers seek. So try to book on off season, or avoid peak travel times.
Customer Service
Throughout our stay, we were impressed by the attentive and friendly staff. From the front desk to the restaurant servers and housekeeping, everyone went out of their way to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Their warm hospitality contributed significantly to our overall positive vacation experience.
Our multi-generational trip to Hotel Riu Santa Fe in Los Cabos was a resounding success. The beautiful surroundings, diverse amenities, and exceptional service made it an ideal destination for our family. Whether you’re travelling with young children, adults, or seniors, this resort offers something for everyone, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable getaway.
