My husband, our two children, and I enjoyed a memorable stay at the Hotel Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas. This all-inclusive, 4-star resort provided a delightful blend of relaxation and family-friendly activities, making it an excellent choice for our family vacation.
Location
Situated along the stunning El Médano Beach, the Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas offers breathtaking views of the Sea of Cortez. This large resort boasts over 600 rooms equipped with modern amenities, ensuring a comfortable stay for all guests.
Accommodations
Our room was spacious, featuring a minibar, satellite TV, and a balcony with a partial ocean view. The housekeeping staff maintained the room daily.
Pools and Water Activities
One of the highlights for our children was the resort’s Splash Water World, a water park featuring various slides and attractions designed specifically for kids. The resort also offers two large pools, each approximately 867 m², with infinity edges overlooking the beach, providing a serene, relaxing setting. The pools have a uniform depth of 145 cm (4’9”), comfortable for most adults to stand in. Additionally, shallow in-water lounge chairs and whirlpools are heated during winter months.
Beach Experience
El Médano Beach, adjacent to the resort, offers a beautiful stretch of white sand perfect for leisurely walks and beachcombing. However, due to strong waves and a dangerous undertow, swimming in the ocean was not advisable during our stay, as indicated by the red warning flags. Despite this, we enjoyed relaxing on the beach and watching for humpback whales, which can often be spotted from the shore.
Dining Options
The resort features a variety of dining options, including buffets and specialty restaurants such as Japanese, Italian, fusion, Indian, and a steakhouse. Our family, including our picky eaters, enjoyed the food, with a wide selection that satisfied all tastes. We appreciated that no reservations were required for the specialty restaurants, making dining more convenient. We did notice repetitive options and hoped for a bit more variety. They offer 24-hour room service that adds to the dining experience.
Entertainment and Activities
The resort offers a range of entertainment options, including live music, shows, and themed parties at the neighbouring Riu Santa Fe. Daytime activities such as pool volleyball and fitness classes are also available. The nightly shows can be loud and disruptive some nights, making it difficult to sleep early, so bring earplugs!
The on-site spa offers various treatments for those seeking relaxation, and there are two gyms for guests to use.
Our stay at the Hotel Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas was a delightful experience that catered to the needs of our entire family. The beautiful pools, family-friendly amenities, delicious food, and attentive staff made for an unforgettable vacation.
