It’s summertime! School is out and there is plenty of time to plan fun activities to do with the family. Looking for some fun things to do in the city with the kids? Here is a list with some of our favourite things to do in Vancouver during the summer. What are yours?
Vancouver with Kids During the Summer {Where to Go}
- Kitsilano Beach & Pool
Nothing beats a day at the beach, little ones love playing with the sand and collecting shells. There are also some great playgrounds and the beach is only 10 minutes away from downtown Vancouver, not bad!
We also love Kitsilano Pool and its amazing view of the city. Heated salt-water pool for swimmers of all ages and sizes.
- Science World / Telus World Of Science
We have a membership and love the TELUS World of Science. So many fun exhibits and hands-on interactive displays for little ones. Their OMNIMAX is pretty spectacular as well, being one of the world’s largest dome screens! Perfect for days when you need to be somewhere with AC to beat the heat. Then after you are done playing inside you can go on a walk by the seawall and enjoy the beautiful waterfront views.
- Vancouver Aquarium
We love visiting the Vancouver Aquarium, an instant hit with little ones. So many beautiful fish and aquatic mammals! The outdoor dolphin show is wonderful and especially fun when it is sunny and lovely outside. Some of our favourite areas are the Amazon Gallery and dolphin underwater viewing area. There is even a nursing area located in the dolphin underwater viewing area if you are visiting with your infant!
- Maplewood Farm
Located in North Van, Maplewood Farms is a huge hit with little ones. They have close to 200 domestic farms animals and birds. Little ones love getting a close-up look at the animals, petting the bunnies, the horses and the friendly goats. Great place to visit during the summer.
- Granville Island’s Kid Market
Arrive by car, bus, bike or aqua bus! A little island right under the Granville Bridge. The Kids Market is one of our favourites, a fun colourful building with a nice play area, tons of little toy shops featuring eco-friendly and educational toys and some local gems. At the end of the day you can walk over to the Public Market and get some yummy food! Fun!

This was so great! I live in Idaho and we aren’t that far from Vancouver! My husband and I talk about taking a mini-vacation there every year and this helps a lot having a child! The farm sounds/looks amazing! xx
I would also recommend the Planetarium or the Maritime Museum!
I’ve never been to Vancouver. Just about everybody I know has. I’ve had so many recommendations, but not all kid related. Love your list of places to go, very helpful for the kiddos indeed!
I’d love to check out the Granville Island’s Kid Market, and the Aquarium!
I wish I’d had more time to explore Vancouver when I was there but it was more or less just driving through to Vancouver Island 🙁

This is a great list and hopefully everything is still there, especially for people that might be coming from out of town.
Thank you for the list, bookmarking for when our grandson comes this summer. Last time he was out we spent the whole time on the island so we’d like to go into Vancouver for a couple days this year.
Great ideas here. Will definitely refer to this next time we are in the Vancouver area.
